Support Downtown Hagerstown
Revitalization & New Home for the Hagerstown Suns
Incorporated in 1762, Hagerstown has long been a city with a strong local flavor and a sense of connection between citizens, business and government. Today, the opportunities are greater than ever to continue Hagerstown’s success. However, we need the entire community to pitch in – not only to keep the Suns here, but to support our city’s growth and development.
Just a block and a half away from the new Central Library the proposed multipurpose, state-of-the-art stadium venue would anchor the new downtown. As both an entertainment destination and an economic driver, this exciting facility can serve as the local home for such activities as:
- The Hagerstown Suns
- Professional soccer games, semi-pro football games, select high school and college sporting events, national recording artists and other concert events, local festivals and expos, corporate meetings
- National recording artists and other concert events
- Local festivals and expos
- Corporate meetings
- Charitable events and fundraisers
The City and County have partnered together to commission a study to determine the impact of replacing the aging Municipal Stadium with a multi-use sports & events center in the heart of our downtown. Ripken Design, owned by baseball legends Cal and Billy Ripken and the organization behind the highly successful Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland, have been commissioned to complete the study. The study will include impartial economic data and projections, as well as case studies of similar downtown venues that have been successful in other communities around the country.
